Advanced Eye Care
Treating glaucoma, keratoconus, preventing diabetic retinopathy, and controlling myopia for keiki
Advanced Eye Disease Management
Protecting your sight begins with the early detection and proactive management of chronic conditions. We utilize advanced diagnostic tools, such as High-Definition OCT Scan and Optos Ultra-widefield (UWF™) Retinal Imaging to create cellular-level maps and wide angle images of your retina for precise monitoring.
Glaucoma: Often asymptomatic in early stages, we focus on lowering intraocular pressure through customized treatment plans including prescription eye drops, monitoring for pregression, referral for laser or surgery procedures to prevent permanent vision loss.
Diabetic Retinopathy: For patients with diabetes, we provide non-invasive exams using pupil dilation and specialized cameras to detect leaking blood vessels or retinal swelling. Early management can reduce severe vision loss by up to 94%.
Macular Degeneration (AMD): We monitor for both "Dry" and "Wet" AMD. While lifestyle changes and supplements help manage Dry AMD, early detection of signs of Wet AMD (which may require advanced interventions like anti-VEGF injections) will prevent severe central vision loss.
Scleral Lenses for Advanced Keratoconus
For patients with advanced keratoconus or irregular corneas, standard lenses often fail to provide comfort or clarity.
Superior Stability & Comfort: Unlike small GP lenses, scleral lenses have a larger diameter that rests on the "white" of the eye (the sclera), vaulting over the sensitive cornea.
The Fluid Reservoir: The space between the lens and the cornea is filled with a preservative-free saline solution, which continuously hydrates the eye and masks corneal irregularities to provide crisp, stable vision.
Surgical Alternative: In many cases, a proper scleral lens fit can significantly improve quality of life and may even reduce the need for a corneal transplant.
Binocular Vision & Prism Glasses
If you suffer from persistent headaches, dizziness, or eye strain, your eyes may not be working together perfectly.
What are Prism Glasses?: These specialized lenses do not change the eye's focus but instead bend incoming light to shift images into alignment.
Relief for BVD: They are a primary solution for Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD), reducing the constant muscle strain caused by eyes trying to compensate for subtle misalignments.
Key Benefits:
Elimination of double vision and reduced "scrolling sensitivity" on digital devices.
Improved depth perception and spatial awareness.
Immediate relief from tension headaches and motion-induced discomfort.
Myopia Control: Protecting Growing Eyes
Myopia (nearsightedness) is more than just needing glasses; higher prescriptions increase the risk of serious eye diseases like retinal detachment and glaucoma later in life.
Essilor® Stellest® Lenses: A specialized spectacle lens designed for children that can slow down myopia progression by up to 67%. Using H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target) technology, these lenses signal the eye to stop over-elongating while maintaining clear central vision.
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) with GP Lenses: This non-surgical treatment uses custom-fitted, gas-permeable (GP) lenses worn only overnight. They gently reshape the cornea while you sleep, providing clear vision throughout the following day without the need for glasses or daytime contacts.
