The Heart Behind the Care: About Harvey
Getting to Know Dr. Yang
From the Golden State to the Big Island
In 2012, Dr. Yang traded the fast-paced lifestyle of California for the lush, tranquil beauty of Hilo. Since making the move, he has fallen in love with the spirit of the Big Island and the incredible warmth of its people. For Dr. Yang, Hawaii isn't just a place to practice healthcare - it’s home.
Life in Motion: Exploring Land and Sea
When he isn't in the clinic, Dr. Yang is usually out soaking up the natural wonders that only Hawaii can provide.
On the Trails: An avid hiker, he enjoys exploring Hilo’s diverse terrain, from the volcanic landscapes to the hidden rainforest paths.
In the Blue: You can often find him snorkeling in our crystal-clear waters, especially at local favorites like Richardson Ocean Park.
Rooted in Culture: The Rhythm of the Islands
Dr. Yang believes that to truly care for a community, you must understand its heart. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to learning the rich history and traditions of Hawaii.
The Ukulele: What started as a curiosity has turned into a favorite pastime; he has spent his years here learning to play the ukulele, bringing the sounds of the island into his daily life.
Hula and Halau: Deeply committed to the "spirit of aloha," Dr. Yang joined a local Hālau. Through the art of Hula, he continues to study Hawaiian culture and history, finding connection and discipline in the stories told through dance.
"Living on Hawaii Islands has taught me that health is more than just medicine - it’s about being connected to the land, the culture, and each other." — Dr. Yang
