For over 50 years, the Loo family has been a cornerstone of the Lihue community. Founded by Dr. Arthur Loo and carried forward by his son, Dr. Jere Loo, this practice was built on a foundation of personal, small-town style service. It has been the distinct honor of the Loo family to care for multiple generations of Kauai families, treating neighbors and friends with the dedicated attention they deserve. As Dr. Jere Loo prepares for his well-deserved retirement, we celebrate the incredible legacy of Arthur Loo, OD, Inc., and the vision Jere and his father shared for our island.
I am Dr. Harvey Yang, and I am humbled to carry this vision forward as the new owner of Eye Care Kauai. Having practiced in Hilo on the Big Island for the past 14 years, I understand the unique heart of a Hawaiian community. Hilo and Lihue share a special spirit - they are places where relationships matter and where healthcare is still personal. My experience serving the families of the Big Island has prepared me to provide the same high standard of clinical excellence and ‘ohana-style service that you have come to expect from the Loo family.
At Eye Care Kauai, our name is changing, but our commitment to your family remains the same. Mālama: Means "to take care of," "to preserve," or "to protect". It carries a deeper cultural meaning of stewardship, which aligns perfectly with our goal of preserving the vision of the community.
Maka: The Hawaiian word for "eye" or "vision".

While Eye Care Kauai (a practice being established by Dr. Harvey Yang) is transitioning from the legacy of Dr. Arthur and Dr. Jere Loo, its core mission centers on preserving the vision of neighbors and friends through personal, small-town style service.
